The nation is celebrating the 150th anniversary of our National Song, Vande Mataram, a moment of immense pride and historical significance. To mark this glorious occasion, Akashvani is commemorating the milestone in a unique and inspiring manner.
As part of this special year-long tribute, Akashvani will digitally release 25 musical renditions of Vande Mataram throughout the year, celebrating its timeless legacy through diverse musical interpretations and honoring its spirit of patriotism and cultural unity.
So far, Akashvani has released seven renditions under this commemorative series. All these musical versions are made freely available for use by all citizens, encouraging widespread participation in celebrating this historic milestone.
These renditions aim to reconnect audiences with the enduring message of Vande Mataram and highlight its continued relevance for generations to come.
On 1st January 2026, the Chief Executive Officer of Prasar Bharati Shri Gaurav Dwivedi formally launched two musical renditions of the National Song, Vande Mataram, as part of the ongoing commemorative series celebrating its 150th anniversary composed and arranged by Johar Ali.
Participating artistes: Mukesh Sharma (Sarod), Atul Shankar (Flute), Adnan Khan (Sitar), Roman Khan (Tabla), Bhola Ram (Guitar), Rajeev (Octopad), Jai (Keyboard), Dilshad Ahmed (Sarangi), and Danish Aslam Khan (Sarod).
On 13 February 2026, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, launched five musical renditions of the National Song, Vande Mataram, on the occasion of World Radio Day celebrations. The event was jointly organised by Akashvani and UNICEF at Raipur.
The launch formed a significant part of the nationwide commemorative series marking the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, celebrating its enduring legacy through diverse musical interpretations and reinforcing the role of radio in promoting cultural unity and national pride.
1. Vocal rendition by Pandit Prabhakar Kashyap and Pandit Diwakar Kashyap (Kashyap Bandhu) Accompaniment: Pandit Mukund Bhale and Shri Deepak Das Mahant (Tabla), Shri Rishabh Mistry (Harmonium), and Shri Anurag Rastogi (Flute).
3. Vidushi Emani Kalyani Laxminarayana — Veena Recital Accompaniment: Padmini Pasumarthy (Veena Support), M. V. Chandrashekharan (Mridangam), Varun Rajshekharan (Ghatam), and Shyamala Kumar (Tanpura).
4. Venu–Veena–Violin Recital Featuring P. Mukhyaparna (Flute), Saliyamangalam Shri G. Ramadass (Veena), Shri R. Subramoni (Violin), Shri K. Srinivasan and G. Sankarasubramanyian (Mridangam), and Shri R. Renganathan (Ghatam).
Akashvani procures content from producers and production houses under various modes such as Revenue Sharing, Licensing, Commissioning, Sponsorship, and Gratis arrangements, among others.
